2330.020 Effort Reporting and Certification


An after-the-fact certification of effort is required of all individuals performing services on a sponsored project when all or a portion of their salary or wages is/are charged as either a direct charge or as cost share to a sponsored project. Effort Reports must be a reasonable estimate of the individual’s time and effort during the Period of Performance certified. An individual’s effort must be certified by his/her supervisor, the Principal Investigator for the applicable project or another FIU employee so long as the person certifying the effort has firsthand knowledge of the work that was performed by the employee whose effort is being certified.
