180.105 Emergency Management and Continuity of Operations


To effectively mitigate against, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters, the Florida International University (FIU) Department of Emergency Management is tasked with administering the emergency management program for the University. The Director shall execute the emergency management program and maintain a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan that outlines emergency procedures that are intended to accomplish the following:

• Where possible, prevent disasters through hazard mitigation planning.

• When disasters cannot be prevented, mitigate the impact to the University community resulting from such occurrences.

• Prepare the University community to respond to disasters through training, outreach and education.

• Restore essential university functions as quickly as possible to bring the University back to operational status.
